Exploring Our Origins
DEVINTO means "on the ninth" in Lithuanian — the address of founder Aiste Zitnikaite's childhood home and her grandmother's birthday. It is a name rooted in memory, heritage, and craftsmanship.
Founded in Montreal in 2013, DEVINTO was inspired by Aiste's upbringing between Soviet-era Lithuania and Canada, where she watched the women in her family sew, knit, and mend clothing by hand. Those early experiences shaped her belief that clothing should be made with care, worn with intention, and valued for years.
After witnessing the waste and exploitation behind mass-produced fashion, Aiste returned to those values to create an alternative. Today, DEVINTO creates timeless womenswear inspired by old-world glamour, femininity, and quiet strength. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted in small batches in her studio using sustainably sourced textiles and made-to-order practices.
At its heart, DEVINTO is a celebration of slower fashion and a more meaningful relationship with clothing — garments designed to be cherished, not consumed.
